Good For Him...He finished his race...

On February 24th, 2007, a dear old man from our church passed away. Usually when you tell someone that you are going to a funeral or when someone passed away, the answer mostly is ,"I am sorry" or "Sorry to hear that". Anyway I told about the old man to a Christian brother I know and he said "Good for Him" and then he said "I am happy for him." I was taken back by his comment since you hardly hear replies like that. After couple of seconds, it hit me why he said that. The Christian brother said those comments because he is was expressing his joy that the old man is going to be with Our Precious Jesus Christ. As the Christian brother put, the old man has finished his race. It is also a good reminder that our race is still not done and we need to stay on the right course. Once we die then other people can say we, as Paul, ran the good race. In closing, please look at Hebrews 12: 1 - 3 (KJV),

"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset [us], and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of [our] faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds."

Hopefully this old man ,whom you don't know, is a reminder that our race is going on and therefore continue to run it and not give up.
