Pinless Harassment

Image
I know it is hard to be disciplined to blog everyday or every other day since sometimes we don't have time to write, we don't have anything to write about or we are simply not inspired to write. I admit I struggle with it but I also realize that the longer you wait to write then harder it is to blog. Anyway back to today's blog. Lately couple of my friends are harassing me that I am pinless and I am not certified. These friends of mine are Sun Java Certified Programmers . They took a certification test for Java 5 and passed it. After they passed the test, Sun Microsystems sent them a certificate, a plastic card and a pin stating that they are certified. If my friends are reading this blog entry then I say to them, "Pinless people can beat people with pins since the they outnumber the 'pinned'." Don't worry I soon shall be pinned. After all Lucas , Java is everywhere including Ubuntu while C# is only in the Windows realm. Lucas please thi

Social Networks

Image
Yesterday I signed up on Facebook.com which is another social network that seems to be quite popular. I am therefore on three social networks: Myspace.com Facebook.com Linkedin.com - which is a professional networking site for jobs Anyway yesterday I signed in and now I am reconnecting with my middle school buddies(yes middle school buddies from the 80s). Back then folks were into mullets, Nike high-tops, and typical 80s stuff. I now look at their profiles and everyone is an adult. Yes some have kids and others are married and then lastly there are some who are married and have kids. I guess I fall in the last category. Boy! Time flies by fast and in the next years I will have teenage kids, and then grand-kids and eventually your age folks die and then die. I guess that is life's vicious circle and then again it is good to reconnect with people who you knew once. Who knew you can technology will play such a large part in my life and in friends' lives. Then again.

While I was driving today...

Image
This evening while I was driving home, my mind wandered to the Florida Keys . My wife (who just started a new blog ), my kids and I went to Florida nine months ago and we spent couple of days in the Keys. As I was stuck behind a long line of cars going at 35 miles per hour, I thought of the blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean, the warm sun, the drive on the 7 mile bridge , the horizon where the sky and ocean met, and seafood. If I could get a telecommute position (not that I am looking), I would probably move there and work from there. I also remembered one of the people I met there who visited Key West once and then moved down there the next year. I guess that's why tourist's destinations like Florida Keys, Arizona and other places are popular destination The question I have for you is,"what your favorite spot".

Perceptions

Have you ever watched the show " South Park "? I personally have watched maybe ten minutes of a show when I was in college which was eight years ago. I didn't like the show at all since I thought the humor was crude and frankly terrible. The worst part was the animation. I didn't like the style. Well my friend Eric found this web site http://www.sp-studio.de which lets you create South Park characters. Therefore I went ahead and created myself and then Eric created me on this site. This is how I created myself: As you can see, I pictured myself with: Glasses - since I wear glasses Droopy eyed - i believe i have droopy eyes Red Shirt - I have a red pullover Drool - I sometimes drool when I am sleeping Green gloves - since they reminded me of my wife's gloves Blue pants - since I like to wear jeans Orange hat - I have a Baltimore Orioles hat Bin Laden's cave - I hope we catch him This is how my friend pictured me: He has me excited about reading

Cricket World Cup

Image
As we in America cheer our alma mater's men's college basketball to victory for the next two weeks, there are people in the Carribean who are celebrating every out or every run for their beloved West Indies cricket team. Cricket?! Yes cricket indeed-- a game played on a "pitch" (a prepared patch of ground which is in the middle of a circular field). The West Indian team is hosting the International Cricket Council's (ICC) Cricket World Cup . This year's world cup is composed of the following teams: Australia * Bangladesh * Bermuda Canada England * India * Ireland - includes Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland Kenya Netherlands New Zealand * Pakistan * Scotland South Africa * Sri Lanka * West Indies * (a collection of former English colonial islands in the Carribean) Zimbabwe * = Heavy Favorites to win the cup! The teams play the one day format of the game in the World Cup which is an eight hour affair. I would say it is a 18 to 27 inning baseball ga

I know that the title is boring for a blog entry but it is hard to come up with the title for a day which is summed with numerous activities. The activities are: Went to Church and heard a sermon on Obedience Bought a Fantasy Baseball Magazine Drafted my Fantasy Baseball team while I was on the phone with my league members who are in Kansas City, Missouri. (It took 3.5 hours for the 25 rounds) Put my kids to sleep which included: brushing their teeth Giving them a bath Dressing them up for bed Reading the Bible and praying with them Putting them to sleep Burping my 6 week old baby Downloading Ruby on Rails and...now currently blogging. So what title should I pick? Should it be: A day in a Christian Father's life Fantasy Baseball, Ruby on Rails, Changing Diapers and Burping newborns in a day Boy I am busy and I shouldn't be writing this blog entry (Please comment with your suggestion for a title for this blog entry) Anyway as you can see, I have had a busy day. This is typica

Loro by Pinback

Image
Last night I was surfing the internet and I ended up at my friend's Dave Everhart myspace page. He had background music which I had never heard and I liked it. It was Loro by Pinback . Here are lyrics to the "song" Loro . I like it. Since my buddy Eric Copen and his wife went to San Francisco , I decided add this cool video about San Francisco with Loro playing in the background. Enjoy!

Art in High-Def.

Image
I have been enjoying a series on Gallery HDTV which is called, " The Private Life of a Masterpiece ". It is an old BBC show which has been recreated for HDTV. It's an amazing show. I have always been an art lover and I am the type of person who can sit in front of a painting and view it, ponder on it, reflect on it and basically use it as a literary tool. My wife and friends sometimes don't see why I sometimes take so long to sit infront of a painting. When I look at good art, I tend to ponder about various things in life and what is the artist trying to convey through his art. Enough of the mumbo jumbo...So far I have seen the episode about Sandro Botticelli's Primavera and Vincent van Gogh's ("Goth") Sunflowers (the 9th version) . As many of don't know (including myself before I watched the show) that Vincent painted 10 versions of the Sunflower painting and his 9th is considered the masterpiece since the background is yellow and the m

Good For Him...He finished his race...

On February 24th, 2007, a dear old man from our church passed away. Usually when you tell someone that you are going to a funeral or when someone passed away, the answer mostly is ,"I am sorry" or "Sorry to hear that". Anyway I told about the old man to a Christian brother I know and he said "Good for Him" and then he said "I am happy for him." I was taken back by his comment since you hardly hear replies like that. After couple of seconds, it hit me why he said that. The Christian brother said those comments because he is was expressing his joy that the old man is going to be with Our Precious Jesus Christ. As the Christian brother put, the old man has finished his race. It is also a good reminder that our race is still not done and we need to stay on the right course. Once we die then other people can say we, as Paul, ran the good race. In closing, please look at Hebrews 12: 1 - 3 (KJV) , "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed ab
