A True Role Model

Image
Johannes Peter Wagner is considered to be one of the best to ever to play Major League Baseball. He was a short stop who: won eight batting titles in the National League lead the National League in RBI and stolen bases five times A career .329 hitter with 722 stolen bases. He was also known for his defensive skills. Now that's pretty good. Don't you agree? The reason why I am writing about "The Flying Dutchman" aka Honus Wagner is that his baseball card got sold couple of days ago for $2.35 million . Wow!!! That's alot money. Why is it so expensive? In the early 20th century, tobacco companies had baseball cards in their tobacco products. After a few months in the store, Honus Wagner asked the tobacco company to ban his baseball cards since he felt that baseball cards in tobacco products encouraged kids to buy tobacco and smoke. That is truly remarkable since he did the "moral" thing. Unlike today where star baseball players shoot themselves with stero

Who is David Wong?

Image
Who is David Wong? I worked with David Wong at Grants.gov where he and I worked on XML Forms using XFDL . He was a pretty good developer. Anyway I also periodically read David Wong's website . This David Wong is not a J2EE guru but rather an american foreign exchange student who is studying in Western China. I have been following his blog at http://www.davidwong.com for three years. I call it an ideal blog where he talks about his adventures in Urumqi, China and basically gives you an update about his life on the other side of the planet. It is not a blog about technology, nor a blog about raising kids, nor a blog about sports but it is someone's journal about their life in a distant country. Therefore if anyone of you is in another country and you keep an English blog then please write about it in the comments section. Thanks!

Dear Tony, ...

Image
If I had to write to the Prime Minister of United Kingdom Tony Blair then what would I write to him about? Would it about his decision to join the US in "I-rack" (Iraq) or would it be about Faulklands or about the ridiculous Gas (Petrol) tax in English cities? Frankly I don't know. I would pass on the opportunity. Nevertheless yesterday I saw a letter in my mailbox which was addressed to: Prime Minister Tony Blair 10 Downing Street London SWIA 2AA and it was from a person in Hagerstown, Maryland. My wife is planning to put the letter back into the mailbox so that it would reach its appropriate destination.

My Trip to Philly

Image
This afternoon I drove my mother-in-law back to Philadelphia (Philly) and it was a long drive. First of all we ended up getting lost in Philly and therefore we drove for another hour before we reached our destination, my mother-in-law's home. While driving through Baltimore , I came across two vehicles which had the logo of Enoch Office Equipment . I immediately knew that Enoch Office Equipment, Inc would be very successful or it would be like Enoch in the Bible: "... he [was] not ;..." - Genesis 5:24 . My mother-in-law and I also stopped at The Maryland House and we ate Crab Cake sandwiches at Philips' Seafood Express . It was YUM!!! After dropping her off, I immediately drove back home. The return trip took four hours. It usually takes two and half hours from Philly back to my place. While I was stuck in traffic, I was listening to Howard Eskin's sports talk show on 610 WIP radio station. He talked about the Philly pro sports like the Flyers, Sixers, Eagles

KFC - latin american style

Image
On Saturday afternoon I took my mother-in-law and two of my three kids to the mall while my wife and the newborn rested at home. After going to the Disney store, I decided to try the new chicken place in the mall. The chicken place was called Pollo Campero which is a latin american chicken place. I have to say that I do enjoy latin american cuisine which includes Taco Bell , Baja Fresh , Chipotle and my wife and her family's cuban cooking. I didn't know what to expect from this place since my wife and I have add terrible experiences at chicken places like Popeye's and KFC . However I was surprised on how good the food tasted. I ordered eight pieces of chicken, a side of coleslaw, a side of spanish, one regular Sprite and one regular Horchata . I had my first Horchata in Tulsa, Oklahoma and it tasted quite good however Pollo Campero's horchata didn't taste that good. The food tasted latin and it was slightly spicy. I didn't know how my mother-in-la

Canon D and Patricia Grace

Image
On February 6th, 2007 at 1:49am, the Good Lord blessed us with our third child Patricia Grace Moses. When she was born, she was 7lb 5oz in weight and 20.5 inches. Time flies by so fast since I still remember holding my first child Tabitha Moses in my arms. Patricia looks alot like Tabitha and I am looking forward to raising her. Since time flies by fast, it won't be long before Tabitha and Patricia are walking down the isle in their white and expensive gowns. As they are walking, my wife Michelle and I will hear the traditional Johann Pachelbel's Canon D . Mozart's Rendition Here is it: Performance on Harp While I was researching other version of the song, here is someone performing this song on a harp. Performance on a flute. Performance on Saxophones Amateurs performing on couple of saxophones. As the description on the video said, the instruments need to be tuned. The people remind me like the crew from Napolean Bonaparte. Performance on Drums Reuben Grigrich'

Baseball is America

Image
It's couple days before the Super Bowl XLI . It's time. All the Super Bowl hype and predicating on who is going to win the big game. My friend Eric posted an entry on what to get for his Super Bowl party. Boy I am excited. Unfortunately I am not writing about football but rather I am writing about America's favorite sport (atleast in the dog days of summer) . I am writing about baseball. As an immigrant, I never full understood the game of baseball. I thought it was sport of grown men trying to hit a ball with a "fat" stick and they got paid "beaucoup" bucks. I thought it was probably the most boring sport in the whole wide world. Believe it or not, I became an avid baseball fan after the Strike of 1994 . During this time, people talked about how they missed the tradition of taking their kids to the ballgame, or what it means to be a baseball fan. It made me realize that to understand America you have to understand baseball. Baseball like America can be
